Renato Sanches won the Best Young Player of the World Award

Italian daily Tuttosportt published the name of the world’s best footballer under 21 to win the prestigious 2016 Golden Boy Award. The winner of the poll was 19-year-old Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich, who won the European Championship with Portugal in the summer. Read more info

Sanches was one of the trio that came to the narrowest selection. Of the forty-two nominees, another player from Bayern Munich was Frenchman Kingsley Coman and Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford. Journalists from thirty European newspapers have taken the vote.
